If Communist China and Russia are allowed to enter our country, establish business and may even buy or lease real estates I see the beginning of an end of our lovely country. Russia may not be so interested considering its distance from us but the Chinese will surely grasp every opportunity available for them. They do not have to fire a singe bullet to claim ownership of our country as belonging to them by
historical background. I can see we shall all become communists and pledge allegiance to Red China. The statue of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Luneta, most likely, will be thrown to the Manila bay and replaced with the founder of China. That would mean goodbye Philippines. God forbids.

The love of the United States of America to our country has been tested many times. We do not have to mention those dark days during the Philippine-Spain revolution or the Philippine-Japanese World War II. Let us all scan the pages of the Yolanda typhoon in the Visayas and we will see who were more concerned of the great catastrophe. Let us speak of facts and figures and be straightforward. America was the first to come to help in the rescue of the victims of that typhoon and donated the amount of $90.5 million dollars. Then came the United Nations which donated the sum of $40.4 million dollars. After which China and Russia donated the combined amount of $7.5 million dollars. I do not have to emphasize anything but definitely even elementary pupils would know who is in the heart of our people.

I have doubts America and other European countries will ever rally behind us should Duterte established tight relation with China. He can shout loud to the world his need for foreign investors but his voice would be like that one lost in the wilderness of nowhere and nobody cares. The only benefit we can get from China is communism and many of us will become communists. Of course, my opinion
is not to prejudice the interest of the die-hard catholic. I still think the Church will rise against the forces of the evils.

It took a simple movie actress, Angot Isidro, to tell Pres. Digong straight to his face that he needs badly a psychiatrist test to examine his mental capabilities. “You are not a bipolar but a psychopath”. This has reference to the pronouncement of Duterte in his criticism against America, the European union, the United Nations and others who were alarmed of his fight against drugs that killed nearly 4,000 alleged suspects. I wish to extend my salute to the great movie star for her brave stand and consciousness in the killing that likewise destroyed our laws on due process. Duterte can never defend himself in this issue. These killings are tantamount to abuse of power and discretion which are considered part of world history when people behaved like unreasonable animals. I urge the Duterte rah rah boys to tell the president about the comments of Angot Isidro. I hope this will not end up as the battle of the beauty and the beast. Someone declared Isidro is a brilliant lady who knows how things are going.

What happen to our past presidents? Does their silence on the extrajudicial killings mean they agreed to such unlawful actions in the fight against the use of illegal drugs? Or they are afraid they will be suspected too of being drug protectors and shot dead by the Duterte police. Fidel Ramos made a positive criticisms on Duterte’s first 100 years in power. He assailed the killing, the hurting speeches of Duterte and his attacks on America and the European union. Ramos described the administration as a losing team. For a fact, we know it was Ramos who compelled Duterte to run for the presidency. Gloria Arroyo, Joseph Estrada and Noy Aquino are silent. If these people are concerned of the country, they must, at least, make comments and call the attention of Duterte. Because of their silence, other countries came forward and say a word or two. This made it complicated because Duterte has gained ground and thought he is the most powerful human being in this side of earth. If I were Duterte, the most that I can do is arrest the drug suspects, put them on trial and whatever happened next is up for the trial courts.

Getting old is so nice. You know many things around the globe, you enjoy your monthly retirement pay for not working, you read newspapers a lot, watch TV programs, listen to radio music, phone your children and family friends, you go to bed anytime you want and wake up early in the morning, eat nice foods although with some restrictions and necessarily avoid alcohol and cigarettes. I enjoy this kind of life. As a university-trained journalist, I do all these things everyday. I put to prints all the things in my mind. You live like a king. God is really so kind and had plan for each of us.

I was so shocked watching at news report about the fire that razed Muntinglupa City. A firetruck that responded turned out has no water so the residents did the fighting all by themselves by fetching water in small cans/pails. As if everything is alright, one of the victims was crying because his belongings which he tried to save were stolen by unidentified thieves. So the flames fanned by strong winds did its best to eat belongings along its path until probably tired and rested by it own. Only a few of the victims were able to save some clothing and food while others were unfortunate to touch nothing but ashes. There was no report of life lost.

Today is Sunday (Oct. 9) and most people attended church services in various places. Sad to state, killings on drugs, went on, kidnappings, hostage-taking, gun running, drug trafficking, robbery, you name it, our country has them. The criminals respect no one, not even the threat of Duterte to kill. I have been saying crimes are part of society and would go on anywhere whether in America, the Middle East, European nations or anywhere. No one has ever solved the problem of criminality on this planet. The Filipinos elected Duterte because of his promise to annihilate crime. No other candidate offered to take away with this social cancer because they all knew it was deceitful. Now I wage my last dollar Duterte will fail.

I reiterate my suggestion for the new administration to put up water systems in all towns and barangays in the country. Many residents got ill because they are forced to drink water from dirty creeks and rivers where working animals stay after works. This is so much of a failure. During the campaign period, Duterte promised to provide a doctor in every barangay. That was really impossible but as I said many times, politics is a game of lies and liars except for others who are honest. It is not late, though, for Digong to work on it. Mr. Digong, I like some of your programs of government but please prioritize which is badly needed and which are not. BEN EMATA Bennex News Service
