BLACK AND WHITE

The United States Air Force and Navy are seemingly on high
alert in the disputed seas because China is so stubborn in
its venture of expansionism. It goes on with its building of
artificial islands and military structures therein that is
viewed as unlawful since there are several claimants in the
area. Among the claimants are the Philippines, Vietnam,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, etc. America stands for the
freedom of navigation for everybody while it is seen Chins
is heading towards owning the area unto itself. Tension is
snowballing and could blow up unless China respect the rule
of law.

The Philippine government focused so much on the alleged
video taken of Sen Leila De Lima making love with her
driver. In the first place, I don’t believe there was such
a video on the matter. There was a very blurred picture of
purported sex action but it was not clear if it was De lima
and her boyfriend. I see this as a bluff of Pres. Duterte or
a zarzuela of sort for De Lima to resign as she was urged.
The averments were nothing but waste of saliva whoever are
the liars. Unfortunately, De Lima declared she is not
resigning and shouted back the evidence against her is
fake. And because the well-choreographed drama failed,
another “atomic bomb” of the administration was unleased
that caused the death of an inmate for an alleged riot
inside the New Bilibid prison. The incident was
attributed to the lady senator’s alleged command. I am not a
supporter of De Lima but I just don’t like persecution of
people. The trial by publicity miserably tumbled down.

Pres. Digong Duterte declared the Philippine-American
military exercise now going will be the last. He allegedly
said this because China does not want it. In this case, it
seems Digong is now vowing his head to the caprices of the
communists. Well, if our destiny as a nation is heading
towards that direction, there is nothing we can do but shed
tears. But can Digong persuade the Filipinos to follow him
to the warm embrace of the Chinese communists? No way Sir
Digong. If Digong thinks the Filipinos are boy scouts, he is
definitely wrong.

I beg to disagree to the proposal of the New Peoples Army to
enter into s peace agreement with the government provided
they do not surrender their weapons. In that case, they are
right away guilty of illegal possession of firearms. It is
clear the NPA is hiding some hard feelings in their heart
and peace agreement is to benefit them so they can walk
freely in the cities and live in peace. The hidden agenda is
their desire to get back to battle when necessary. This is
one way settlement at their advantaged. My dear NPA, we are
brothers, we are all Filipinos, we must embrace peace with
love and honesty in our hearts. Please give up your
weapons.

I urge the religious groups in the country to make a sound
on the matter of extrajudicial killings. I am very sure
God is very unhappy with the situation that seems has gone
wild. Killing of people is definitely wrong and would be
more wrong if the good people do not do anything. Countries
around us are already alarmed while we do nothing to stop
it. Our kumpare Digong is enjoying the killing and is
even proud about it.

The latest of Pres. Digong’s show is his pronouncement that
Russia and China can now lease lands in the country for as
long as 120 years. I wonder if tis issue is allowable under
our Constitution. I am just wondering why our opposition
leaders are silent all the way and not putting up opinions
or stand on issues Digong are making. May I wake up our
opposition leaders who were noisy during the last
administration and now are cowards?

Some of our brave journalists who write columns are
strangely quiet. Are they afraid of Mr. Digong who was said
to be a punisher and reportedly known as author of
killings in Davao City? I rarely hear of a media peron
saying a word against the president. It seems they are
on the same boat with Digong and agree to all his wishes.

Pres. Duterte’s remark about the killing of Hitler in Germny
during the end of World War II was declared “unacceptable”
to Germany. It was also unacceptable to America’s Pentagon.
This only shows how our president opens his mouth with
reckless and careless words without reference to things that
hurt other countries. I have been saying Digong talks
wildly sometimes.

I ask the Filipinos to pray harder for a peaceful settlement
of the dispute involving the Scarborough. Right now tension
seems rising and it can reach to disagreement between
America and China. I hope no military confrontation is
reached anytime soon. BEN EMATA Bennex News
