THE FRONT PAGE BANNERLINES

I am just wondering why so many arrest of drug lords are taking place now – – things that do not happen in past years. And because of lack of enforcement of our laws on the matter, the indiscriminate use of illegal drugs has tremendously proliferated. Sad to state, the whole country is practically held hostage by drug addiction with many police officers and other government employees using the drugs. I heard some drug lords have already surrendered, afraid of Pres. Duterte who vowed they will be killed.

My spies reported that fierce fighting in Lagonglong and Talisayan both in Misamis Oriental between the military and the NPA rebels is continuing. That the civilians have to evacuate to Cagayan de Oro for fear of being hit in a crossfire. I urge the government to give assistance to the displaced civilians more particularly on food and medicine.

I am confused why so many traffic accidents in the Philippines are almost always caused by faulty brakes of vehicle. What is happening to our car dealers? Are they not aware that brakes are part of the vehicle in order to be operational? Or drivers not checking the brake fluid or brake linings on their vehicles. There are millions of motor vehicles in America but I have yet to hear one making accident due to faulty brakes. I suspect these are due to drivers who do not know how to drive but got their licenses anyway because of some hocus pocus.

Another thing that scares me so much is so many fires have reduced to ashes several houses around the country and before things are investigated properly, police would blame faulty wirings as the cause. Are our electrical engineers and electricians ignorant on the installation of wirings? I don’t think this is the case. The more serious side of the incidents is some lose of lives are involved. I surmised some of these conflagrations are due to recklessness and negligence of family members. Occurrence of brownouts when many residents have to light candles could be one factor that should be looked into.

The Abu Sayaff Groups, now rumored as the king of the kidnapping business in our country has beheaded a Canadian citizen for his failure to put up the ransom money. This is another stain on our faces more specially to our fellow citizens living in Canada. If Pres. Duterte is really serious in his vow to kill criminals, then this is the moment that he should annihilate all ASG kidnappers operating in Jolo. This is a big blow to our county.

TV newscasts revealed that Pres. Digong Duterte is going to release all political prisoners in the country. Does this means including those who committed murder and kidnapping? And how will he do this if appropriate criminal cases had been filed in court? Whatever the new president is going to do, I hope he finds solution to delays in court cases. Many court cases are decided after ten years or more of litigations. In some instances, parties die first before things are reached. I guess the government should establish more regional trial courts to make sense of the change Duterte promised,

Tension between Japan and China is brewing seriously when the latter’s battleship entered the territorial water of the former. China has been doing this scheme too with Taiwan and the Philippines. The communists are very eager to annex islands belonging to others in consonance with its expansion program, the reason why it always entangle misunderstanding with its neighbors.

US fighter jets arrived in the Philippine presumably to deter the Chinese’ probability to invade our country. The Americans will also train Filipino pilots on the latest strategy in fighting up in the air. This must be part of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) protested by the leftists.

Peace situation around the world is very shaky. War here and there is taking place for some reasons. I am just concerned of extreme peace in the Philippines since our country cannot defend sovereignty in case of foreign invasion. We have millions of people who do not know how to fight but they are good in drinking wines and use of shabu. This absolutely is extraordinarily weird. I urge everyone to be alert and avoid large crowds where the terrorists might insanely strike.

I wish Pres. Digong Duterte change his mind on restoring death penalty through hanging. I also urge Congress to oppose such move because it is so uncivilized and definitely cruel. Better still hold referendum where the general electorate are allowed to participate in such major issue. Okay folks? BEN EMATA Bennex News Service
