I can predict that when Pres. Digong Duterte assumes office on July 1, this year, killing of drug lords, drug pushers, users, corrupt politicians and journalists, criminals, etc. will begin. He must have a network of killers. Unless he changed his mind, this means better business opportunities for embalmers, funeral parlors and private cemeteries. Undoubtedly, these people will be “salvaged” or by way of summary killing since our country does not have a law on death penalty. Whether we like it or not, this is dictatorship pure and simple. The United Nations and religious sectors will not agree on this much less human rights groups around the world. Necessarily, this will make Digong, the killer and his popularity that catapulted him to power will be devastated in its entirety. I wholeheartedly disagree to this style of running the government. Another thing, killing of criminals by hanging from a tree is absolutely painful and cruel.

The Abu Sayaff has beheaded another Canadian citizen held hostage for failure to turn over the huge amount of money as ransom. This condemnable act is definitely without parallel and this is the group of kidnappers that should be annihilated completely. Here I urge Pres. Digong to move forward and destroy the web of bandits that dishonored our country. I doubt if we can talk peace with these kind of unmanageable criminals.

According to Bill Gates, the richest man on the surface of earth, his family goes to Catholic Church. “it makes sense and inspire me on religious morality” he said. To me we may differ in religion and even call the supreme being in different names but for one thing, we all worship the same Almighty God because there is only one God.

Terrorists love wholesale killing of innocent people. They are all over the world. They strike at a time when no one think of them. To play their game, I urge everyone to avoid large crowd because this is one of their favorite targets. Do not be a victim of a situation where you are aware of. No matter how poor we are, to be alive is still the best thing ever in this world. Whenever possible, stay at home.

Many Filipinos were stunned to see the Philippine flag displayed by Facebook during the celebration of the Independence Day showing the red color at the top. This is the case if the country is at war. During peace time, the blue color should be on the top. The error is definitely insignificant to foreigners but to us, it is really something.

I am glad that the hundreds of evacuees who ran away from their barangays in the towns of Balingasag, Salay and Lagonglong in Misamis Oriental have returned to their places. This is because the firefight between the government soldiers and the NPA rebels have stopped and smokes of gun fires in the skies have cleared. I hope this will be the beginning of peace around the island of Mindanao. I hope the rebels will realize what they are doing is just disturbing the country and people and nothing else. Misamis Oriental used to be a very peaceful province until these armed men came.

I wish to congratulate the police and other government agencies in their efforts to fight the illegal use of drugs. Now we see how far this evil has eroded our society. It has reached many politicians, military and police officers, the reasons why it is very difficult to put it down. This matter must be “dutertenized” well if our new president really meant business in killing criminals.

I really sympathize with Sen. Bongbong Marcos who is insisting he lost in the last elections by way cheating. VP-elect Leni Robredo is an honest lady who would not resort to such dirty political maneuver. Marcos’ defeat only showed the people do not want a repeat of history. The young Marcos is just unlucky he is the son of a hated dictator.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to outgoing Pres. Noynoy Aquino. He has done a lot of good things for the country specially in the growth of the economy and the improved military. I do not have to mention that corruption has severely dwindled when some suspects were arrested. Our country gained respect in the eyes of world leaders. Aquino will go down in history as an honest leader. Thank you Mr. Noynoy for your efforts. BEN EMATA Bennex News Service
