Local absentee voting already starts

TAGBILARAN CITY.- The local absentee voting will start today and will end on Friday.

Atty. Jose Nick Mendros, Director of COMELEC-7 said that the absentee voting are for the police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, media practitioners that have applied for absentee voting in COMELEC Manila and other local COMELEC offices.

He added that the manual system will be used for the voting and will start from 8am and will end on 5pm.

Mendros told that ballot copying is prohibited wherein after the voting, it will be collected, placed in an envelope and will be sealed and be brought to the Local Absentee Voting Office in Manila.

The counting of votes will be canvassed on May 9 elections in the afternoon. The media according to him can vote for as long as they have applied for the local absentee voting.

Unlike the past absentee voting those who have avail of the local absentee voting, cannot vote for local candidates, only the candidates for national positions.
