CALAPE, Bohol – Initial investigation pointed to jealousy as the driving motive in the slaying of Cuario family members in this town, P03 Angelo Namang, the duty criminal investigator of Calape police station, yesterday said.
P03 Namang said that prior to the shooting incident, P01 Rosalie Cuario, sibling of the victims, believed to be had misunderstanding with the suspect, Maricel Ramos, a lesbian and her alleged lover.
The report said that the suspect helped Cuario’s shooling until he latter graduated and became a police officer.
Ramos was said to be the prime suspect in shooting to death police officer Cuario’s mother, Rosita Cuario, 72 and her brother Joel Cuario, 45, all residents of barangay Ulbojan of this town, Police chief PS/Insp Cresente Gurrea said in earlier interview with DYTR.
The wounded was identified as one Vicente Cuario, 50, the brother of Joel Cuario. Vicente Cuario was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for medical treatment of his wound at his left arm and breast, his wife Jessica Cuario said.
The three casualties added to the list of nine (9) deaths last month January 2016) documented by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Bohol office.
Police said that the suspect, using a 9mm ‘glock’ type of firearm, shot Cuarios who were inside their residence at past 6 pm on Feb. 3, 2016.
After the shooting, the suspect fled to neighboring barangay Liboron where she resided. After they received the information on the shooting, police immediately responded and followed the suspect.
They tried to negotiate for the suspect to surrender for almost an hour but the latter refused and instead fired at them, police said. This prompted the police to return fire and hit the suspect, Gurrea said.
