The DauistlerEnduro Race 2016 geared up as 35 riders from across the province of Bohol came rolling, sharp climbing and twist teasing corners of the scenic Dayo Hill of the Municipality of Daius last January 30.
Three slope styles for three different stages were wheeled together with their origins at the top of the famous “Tower” of the hill emerging in the barangays of Catarman, Mayacabac and Mariveles testing the riders in their stamina, technicality and speed.
It has been a leg-numbing heart pumping win for Van Jabala who is ahead in a just a minute’s breadth against Jay Jamila in the Hardtail Category. Francis Belotindos caught up against the first two within couple minutes more.
Yet the thrill escalated in the Full-Suspension Category as PeldenDorji pedaled to the top podium in a 12 second difference to Jake Arvin Fudolig while hot on their wheels was Ray Dinorog that managed to reelinto the third spot.
In the women’s race, Amy Sarabia garnered a confident lead against Gerisse Marie Marmito who was in a confortable second.
Fun and excitement was accelerated as Gerry Marmito triumphed in the 40+ category as Rey Bamboa still managed to land second despite a sudden tumble on the slants of Biking. Mario NiloLawag showed that he still got what it takes that landed him third on the podium.
The race was never short of action and adventure as racers spill from their bikes and wheels are pinned by sharps rocks that are natural to the area and yet they cycled, sweat oozing, lips paled in breath catching hurrying revolutions to the finish.
In his speech, Municipal Tourism Officer, Mr. Chris Nistal who expressed the potential of the race for the tourism of the municipality and an activity for everyone especially the young to engage in sports and not in other harmful endeavours.
